The Most Unforgettable Moment For Me
It was not planned. I was on my stage at my recent Client Attraction Secrets Live! event. It was Day One. I can’t remember now what I was meant to be talking about at the time, but the conversation led me to the reasons why we start our own business. The point I was making was; there are many reasons for running a business, and they are all valid. For most people in the room I suspected it was one of three things:
|#1||They wanted to make loads of money, while enjoying their freedom.|
|#2||They wanted to keep an income ticking over and paying the bills until they could retire.|
|#3||They felt some deep calling to make this world a better place, leave a legacy and do something that actually matters.|
I asked the audience for a show of hands for how many people in the room were in business due to reason 3. I knew it would be a lot because I know what kinds of entrepreneurs are normally attracted to me. But when over 80% of the room put up the hands, it kinda took my breath away…
I looked out at over 100 people, most with their hands up in the air. I looked at their beautiful, eager faces. I could actually feel their powerful energy in that room. I imagined the room got still (not sure of that now, but I know I got very still inside). And I saw something I simply can’t forget.
I saw the extraordinary power that those 80+ entrepreneurs will have when they go out into the planet doing something that really, truly matters. I saw the impact that this will have on their communities. I saw the good, the positive change, the bettered lives, the job opportunities, the greatness that results from so many people simply having the courage to play a bigger game–for some of them a much bigger game. I “GOT” how important it is to enable these entrepreneurs to do what they were put on earth to do.
Well, that was the most special and unforgettable moment from my event for me, by far. I actually asked to see those same hands again on Day Two just to make sure I had not imagined it. I hadn’t.
I can tell you it was a deeply humbling moment for me. I know I have a gift of helping people build businesses. But this may be the first time I realized that my gift gives wings to so many amazing people who in turn go out and give wings to so many more, each in their own special and unique way. Wow.
Making an impact. Achieving significance. Leaving this world a better place. That is all in a day’s work for so many entrepreneurs. Not just to make money. Hey, I am happy to deal with that as well. Let me assure you I am not all noble thoughts. But to do what we were truly put on earth to do, and to do what matters? Priceless.
That is not a moment I will forget.
