A Health Care Subsidy Startups Will Love
One of the few things I get on my soap box about is that self-employed entrepreneurs should be able to get affordable health care. We need to look after our entrepreneurs so badly – they are the lifeblood of our economy.
So I do want to make sure that if you are just starting out your business, and your adjusted gross income is still under $46,000 – you know about this subsidy.
Here is a link to an NPR blog article which answers some basic questions about who qualifies for Obama care. Basically–anyone can get insurance on the exchange, but to qualify for a subsidy you need to have an adjusted gross income of under 46K for the year. The subsidies are pretty substantial–allowing people with lower incomes to have good insurance coverage for a low monthly rate with a low deductible It is certainly worth looking into for self-employed people who are building a business.
